Taiwan First Year Experience

Taiwan First Year Experience
Taiwan University
While drawing inspiration from the "first-year support system" in American and European higher education, our organization also deeply considers the unique academic background and learning needs of Taiwanese students. Before entering university, most students have long been immersed in an exam-oriented learning system, and their understanding of self-directed learning, time management, interdisciplinary exploration, and academic norms often requires readjustment and adaptation.
Therefore, the first-year unit not only introduces mature international experiences but also focuses on the localization and implementation of these systems. Through curriculum design, learning guidance, and support mechanisms that align with the learning journey of Taiwanese students, it assists students in gradually building the learning abilities and self-management skills required for university. This unit focuses on students' actual needs, establishing a forward-looking and locally adapted transition support model that enables students to steadily embark on their university career while understanding themselves, adapting to the academic environment, and exploring future directions.
